This traditionally-made dish will surely draw out some nostalgia!
Here’s how you make Polos Mallum!
Ingredients:
Medium Jackfruit 1 nos
Cumin Seeds 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon 1/4 inch
Peppercorn 8 nos
Mustard Seeds 1/4 tsp
Garlic 3 cloves
Small Red Onion 4 nos
Kochchi 3 nos
Curry Leaves
Turmeric 3/4 tsp
Salt 1 ¼ tsp
Desiccated Coconut 1/2 cups
Water 1/2 cup
Method:
Prepare the jackfruit by finely chopping it and leave it aside for later.
Grind cumin seeds, cinnamon, peppercorns and mustard seeds with a mortar and pestle.
Add garlic cloves, small red onions, kochchi and curry leaves and grind well.
Add turmeric, salt, and desiccated coconut to the mixture and grind again until well combined.
Next, add the finely chopped jackfruit to a clay pot with some water, turmeric and salt, and cover with a lid for a few minutes.
Finally, add the ground coconut mixture and give it a good mix. Take it off the heat and your polos mallum is ready to be served! Enjoy!
